Even the most confident and alert driver can feel a bit nervous when driving in the rain. Hydroplaning on wet roads is a real danger, especially if you don't know what to do in such a situation. Follow these tips for what to do if you find yourself hydroplaning.

You should always drive under the speed limit in the rain. Slow down significantly if it's raining particularly hard or it's windy. Also, be sure to turn off your cruise control. These steps will allow you to have more control and better reaction time.

If you begin to hydroplane, make sure you have both hands on the wheel and remove your foot from the gas. Do not use the brake. Next, turn the steering wheel gently in the direction of the slide. This may seem counterintuitive, but it will actually help to straighten your vehicle out and allow you to regain control.
